Check out that title.
Didn't think I would be posting about this, especially so late, A is 15 months.
We had her 15 month check up, and I asked about weaning, and he said that cold turkey was the way to go, she's old enough & only uses me as comfort.

Now I don't remember what I've posted about nursing on here, it's been an experience. We lasted 15 onths.
We're moving on now. Cold Turkey. She nursed in the morning after waking, but for the two times shes asked since then, nothing, and she went down for her nap perfectly.
Just snuggled with her.

A has been wonderful through this whole process. She seemed to have caught on after day 1. Day three was the start of her starting to actually ask for her sippy. She's eating more. Sleeping through the night and seems much happier and more independent.

Now I forgot to mention, we weaned while teething! She's working on two molars, got her shots and still was a champ when it came to quitting. I'm so proud of her. I was worried about how we would feel, but I know we were both ready for it, we were just waiting for one of us to say, okay enough. Or for someone else to.

I'm so glad we made it as long as we did.It was a great bonding experience for us. Seriously I'll say it again, A has been AMAZING through the weaning process, right now as I add to this post she is about 4 weeks in. 28 days! Gosh time has flown! I thought I would hate life during this time, but you know what, I didn't.

A is bonding better with her dad, she even lets him rock her to sleep. She's growing up too fast. It's given A and I a great understanding of each other I think. She knows that I'm good for more than just nursing & comforting. She's realized I can comfort her in other ways and we can have more fun together. I'm so glad the weaning process is over though it wasn't bad at all, I'm looking forward to all the new things to come!

Citiville, Word Verification & Other Stuff

Its Ok ThursdaysSometimes I play CityVille on Facebook, because A is asleep
& I don't know what else to do.

Sometimes I don't get comments on posts that I don't link up to things.

Sometimes I don't comment on someone's post because of the darn word verification crap.

Sometimes I'll try and comment & give up 3 tries in.

I spent A LOT of time on PicMonkey this week. I'm addicted.

I gave up  Day #2 of not drinking soda because Hubs was
working late and A & I needed out of the house.

                 It's ALL okay!

Today I am thankful for a FIL who can come over after a long day at work and find out why I have a leak in the ceiling of my basement.

A brother who offered to come help even though, he can't drive & only has one hand that can be used.

A husband who works hard so that I can stay at home with my baby girl.

Great blog friends & new followers

See those 3 little cuties in that picture? They're best friends.
They might be very young still, but they're close.
They get huge smiles on their faces when they see each other.

This group of very attractive people would be me & my siblings.
We're close.
We're there for each other no matter what.
Pregnancies, jail, break ups, new relationships, bad hair cuts.

My husband thinks my family is too young to know what we'll be like when we're older. See his family isn't close like mine. They live up the street from us and yet we only see them every few months, and never get calls from them.

My family has always been close like this. We get together for birthdays and all holidays. We keep in touch. We were raised that way though.

Raised to know that we better include our siblings in our activities.
Raised to support each other no matter what.
Raised that even the biggest fight or argument is pushed to the side if that person needs us.
Raised to defend them when others start talking trash.
Raised to accept them for who they are.

My sister is in town with her daughter & boyfriend for a couple weeks. It's so great to have our family together in one state.
Lately we've all been reminded how lucky we are to have each other.
Being the oldest biological sibling & sister, I feel like it's my job to protect them.

To remind them that we are family.

I wish hubs and his family could have grown up this way.
I hope that A can have siblings and know this kind of bond.

Shop for Me.

Lately I've been slowly working around the house doing things.
I'm working on my bathroom right now.

I FINALLY redid my bathroom cabinets & removed the icky towel rack that was making it so small & dark. Now I need some new things!

Help me shop?

I need a towel rack for over the toilet, I'm thinking a shelf sorta like this:

Then that'll need a clock & a cute basket.

I also need a new rug, well two.
One big enough to fit between the bath & cabinets and one for in front of the shower.

I also need one of those Scentsy wall plug in deals. I had a regular size warmer & I'm just scared of A reaching the cord.

If you sell Scentsy let me know! I'm looking to buy some stuff!

Where do you shop for your bathroom stuff?

Special Men in my Life

5 Memories of a Special Man in My life - My Dad

The time he taught me how to tackle my nightmares.

Walking me down the aisle at my wedding, helping me stay calm and even cracking some jokes.

The moment he announced I was pregnant to his family, he couldn't keep it in any longer, he's a proud grandpa.

Holding A & singing to her when she was just a newborn.

When we went through the temple & he was there to greet me at the end.

5 Memories of a Special Man in My life - My Husband

The sly way he found to hold my hand on our second date. Ice skating.

The way he proposed, asking twice before I could even turn around & process what was going on.

The excitement he had when he picked out the perfect gift while I was pregnant, a pearl necklace with earrings (for me) & a bracelet (which was picked out for A).

The way he looked at our sweet baby girl the day she was born, he finally was a dad.

The smile he gets on his face every day when he comes home to us.

It's Okay!

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Okay:

A is eating chocolate chips at 8:30 this morning, she did eat yogurt first.

A is watching Curious George so I can get some blogging in real fast.

That A watches shows for about an hour in the morning so I can blog & get ready.

That I like my coffee sweet.

That the next couple weeks will be full of scheduled posts & link-ups because my sister is in town with her daughter & I want to spend as much time as I can with them!

That this is my second post today, because I wanted a special one for the start of ICLW.

That my blog looks a little crazy.

That it looks crazy because I'm slowly figuring out how to design it on my own.

That I'm designing it by myself because I'm too cheap to pay someone to do it, especially since I like to change my blog up ALL the time.

That this list got A LOT longer than I thought it would!

First off, Welcome ICLW'ers!

So excited to find some new blogs & hopefully find some new friends!
For those of you that don't know what ICLW is, check out the button on the right side of my blog!
Also while you're there, check out the GFC Blog Hop

I'm super excited with blogging right now! I finally feel like I can do what I want. This blog originally started when I was TTC #1.

Miss A

Who is now 15 months & is looking forward to eventually having siblings.
Out of habit I describe my blog as "mom after pcos".

Well I am. I don't know if after is the right phrase. I really don't know much about the whole thing anymore really. I got pregnant a few months after starting Met.formin. I never made it back to the RE because our insurance changed & I was pregnant. I don't know how this is going to affect us with TTC #2.

We stopped BC in April. I say "we" because hubs agreed it was time to start trying. It has now been 3 cycles since then. I'm currently CD 4, and wonder what this month will bring. This is my first cycle since stopping nursing A 2 weeks ago, it was only 3-6 days late. I say 3-6 because for a while I had 25 day cycles & then a 28 day. So yeah.

I've read many comments on chat rooms about "being careful after weaning because you're really fertile", as in their husbands looked at them and they became pregnant.

So this is just a little update about TTC #2. I don't post about it much, if at all anymore, because I don't know how most of my readers would feel. Though I am thinking about making a TTC #2 page & updating there, for those that are interested.

I'm trying to post about a wide variety of things. There is so much more to me than just being a mom & TTC. I really hope you stick around and get to know me better.

Can't wait to "meet" you!

Remember how I went and got my eyelashes permed last Thursday & had a post ready for Friday & never actually got it scheduled or posted? Well here's that post.

Eyelash perm = fail :(

My eyelashes barely curled. Good thing I just went to see my friend so it was free, and she'll try again some other time if I want. Pretty bummed about that. But the process was pretty interesting and pretty relaxing. Next time I get it done, I'll definitely include pictures. I just didn't have an extra person with me this time around!

Anyway, so I got this new mascara to try out when I was out wandering Wal-Mart looking for something to try. I figured I needed to try something new & it would give me something to blog about!

The first day I tried, I was pretty friggin' disappointed. It looked like crap & the brush sucked. Well I didn't want to give up  after one try so I tried again.

This time I followed the directions, which say

"For best results, apply the Flexor Brush against the lashes and sweep from root to tip until a full plush look is achieved. Do not let dry between coats."

So I tried that out & BAM! I was in love! It works great with the false lashes I use. Definitely don't let it dry between coats, it works much much better! I even love it on my bottom lashes! That's surprising, I rarely wear mascara on the bottom lashes because it's hard getting it thick & dark enough without looking like a clumpy eyelashed fool.

Seriously, try it out sometime. I'm sure you'll love it too! I just haven't figured out why the brush would bend like that, when there is no way for me to be able to push on my lashes hard enough for it to bend.Anyone know why? I could guess but maybe you know for sure?

I've tried a bunch of different mascaras and would definitely use this again.

What kind of mascara do you use?
I'd love to try another one out.

Picture & directions found here.

New necklace!

I don't remember how long it's been but, I saw this necklace that Kristin made.

I know, super small picture but, you'll see more in a sec.

 I was immediately in love!
All the bright pretty colors & the beautiful big flower! I had to have it. Well after a while of talking to hubs, I finally convinced him I needed it. Last night when hubs & A brought the mail in, they brought me my package!

I couldn't wait any longer to wear it, so it was part of my outfit today!

I love it! A loves it! Everyone that has seen it, LOVES it! Kristin included a little something extra for me to giveaway to one of you! I'm planning on getting that up and ready after my weekend vacation!

Thanks again Kristin!

I saw my brother's hand today, first time seeing it in something other than a picture.

If you stopped by last week, you'll remember he was in a car accident and they amputated part of his middle finger. They also shaved down one bone because he had lost too much "meat" off of the finger.

I watched my brother's face as he went to show me his hand, you could see in his eyes he wasn't sure what my reaction would be. Honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was curious, he let me inspect at my desired distance. I watched him show his 4 year old son. I listened to him explaining it was his choice to look at it, and he didn't have to if he didn't want to. He could ask questions whenever he needed to.

It wasn't until my brother & I sat alone in the living room that I asked him how he was feeling about seeing his hand. His only concern was other people. His fiance, not wanting to hold his hand or be near it. His son being terrified of it. It broke my heart a little. He was okay with it, as best as anyone could be. The only thing that kept him on edge was the response of others.

I've worked at a couple gas stations, dealt with people that look different, it's never phased me. I know not to stare, and very rarely if ever find myself staring. Some people stare, my sister for example, I have many times had to turn her away from staring at someone. Awkward. But sometimes we can't help what draws our attention, what makes us curious.

A hasn't seen his hand, and probably won't until it's healed. I know she won't understand till she is older, but I hope we can help her understand. I hope she grows up and can be like me, and not stare. I hope differences in people physically like that won't draw her attention for much longer than a quick second.

It's the stares and curiosity of people that hurt others like my brother the most. Though we can't always ask what happened or why, if we do get a chance we should. People have stories. Just remember when you're out and you see someone that is a little different, try not to stare, make eye contact, remember they are someone, they have a story. Push your curiosity back away from their knowing eyes.

Linking up with Shell today.

Monday Listicles

I wasn't exactly sure what to write for this post, then I went to Sunday dinner at my Grandparent's house and it all magically came to me.

Things That Make Me Go Hmm
....Sunday Dinner....

1. My Uncle's ability to say something so stupid and inconsiderate, that I want to stab him with the nearest fork, and yet no one says anything to him. This time it was about the car accident my brother was in.

2. My grandparent's need to put as much salt as possible on everything. I mean somethings are crunchy from how much salt is on the top.

3. The way dinner makes your stomach bubble and roll, as soon as you get on the freeway to head home. Their cooking is not for those with sensitive stomachs, our Sunday dinner group has narrowed down quite a bit due to sensitivity.

4. My cousin's way of making conversations so awkward that you find any excuse to leave the room.  He'll say something you don't need to reply to, then stare with his mouth open at you, almost like the words are right there waiting to come out, but they never do, they're just waiting for you to say something.

5. My cousin's ability to say "Hi Sara, how are you?", 3 different times to me within 20 minutes,  in 3 different rooms, and want a full response and the question asked to him. Acting like he's never asked me it, it's like, uhh hello? Do you not know we just talked?

6. My cousin changing her 4 year old's diaper, wait it gets better.... in the living room! Uhh, really?

7. My cousin not potty training her 2 year old even though he wants to be because her 4 year old doesn't want to be.  Uhh, if A is 4 and wearing a diaper and nothing has happened to cause this, (I do know some things cause this process to be drawn out) someone come find me and smack me!

8. My dad telling my nephew that seagulls eat people. Now this one will need a little story, C likes to ask 100 million questions to only a select few people, my dad, his dad, & me. While out working in the yard with my dad, and on question 1 million, he asked about the seagulls flying over and what they do. That's when my dad told him they eat people. Which C responded, "Do you think they saw us?!" , of course my dad got this straightened out, but really gotta wonder there.

9. My grandparent's having a 8 year old. Okay, so he's my older brother's boy, and my brother, his wife & daughter live in one of the basement apartments, but my nephew lives upstairs with my grandparent's, they don't have to do anything for him but it's still strange.

10. My aunt's ability to have her pants hiked up so high, and being a different pattern from her top, that even I am uncomfortable for her, and it doesn't bother her. Uhh if my pants for whatever awful reason got that high, I would definitely definitely buy a new pair of pants or stick to skirts & dresses. NO ONE should have their pants up that high, there are certain things we don't want to see.

Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

How did you come up with your blog name?
Mommy Summers, I'm a mommy to Miss A & our last name is Summers, pretty simple!

What is your favorite thing about blogging?
The friendships & support. I've "met" so many great people, and love sharing & learning with them!

What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without?
Twitter. Really? I know right? I didn't really care for it, but now that's how I keep up with everyone's blogs.

Facebook or Twitter? and why?
Twitter, like I said above, it's how I keep up with everyone. Facebook seems to hold family and friends that I know IRL, and I use it to check in on them once in a while but not much.Maybe I'll start a Facebook for my blog someday?

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?
Julia Roberts, I love her. Love every show she has been in.

What is something you want people to know about your blog?
It's my journal. Sometimes I just post stuff to remember it. I have big hopes for it though, I've been talking to hubs about all my dreams for my blog and he said go for it! Looking forward to some changes!

15 Months.

Dear A,
You are 15 months! Let's see what you've done this past month & how big you are!

(Taken the day after you turned 14 months.)
Measurements from your 15 month WCC:

Weight: 23 lbs 52%
Height: 31.5 " 80%
Head Cir: 18.25" 63%

(First Time swinging)
You are still nursing, well you were until yesterday, (post on that coming soon).

You started walking about 3 months ago, so you are now running.
(So happy in the mornings)
You finally say Mom, its amazing. I love it, though you do tend to say it with a whiny voice.

You are such a sweet heart, you love your cousin C so much. Everything is better when C is around.

You are finally back to sleeping through the night, and for you that means at least 6 hours before you wake.

You do yard work without putting up a fight, you love it, unlike me.

You have babies that you love so much, dad & I have to take turns loving them.

Grandma gave you C's guitar, you love it, it stays in the car so you can play with it when we drive around.

Stop growing up so fast.

Love you baby girl!

It's Okay

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Okay...

  • That because 2/5 of the kids in my family have ended up in the hospital in the last 3 days, I'm worried about our "3rd bad thing ", doesn't it go something like "Bad things come in 3's?".
  • That I might drink hub's cup of coffee this morning because mine probably won't be enough
  • That I'm dreading taking A to the doctors later for her 15 month well check because I don't think she's well.
  • That I stopped working out a couple months ago, and don't really feel like getting back into it anytime soon.
  • That it's taken me a very long time to type this post up, because I'm pretty sure my brain keeps shutting off.

That Call.

Monday started off like just any normal day, A & I got ready and headed over to my parent's house. We were there an hour, just about to plan what we were doing for lunch. I was sitting in a chair by the kitchen, where my mom was. Her phone rang, it was my brother's ring tone, as my mom stepped closer, I could immediately tell it wasn't my brother, something was wrong. My heart dropped.

It was a Sheriff. My brother had been in an accident and rolled/totaled the truck he was driving and was being taken to the emergency room about 35 minutes away. Nothing other than that. My brother has a 4 year old, he was in the room, and saw how my mom & my brother's fiance reacted, very unstable. I took him and A up to the hospital in a separate car.

He thought we were going to see his dad at work, I had to tell him that we were going to the hospital to see his dad because he had been in an accident. I had to explain that his dad might look different, ( no one knew what to expect, I didn't want him to see his dad and freak out, he needed to be prepared). We walked through the ER doors, and were taken back to see him, his face looked great, one arm completely covered in dried blood, the other wrapped in just tons of gauze. He had a few cuts on his shoulder but nothing too bad from what we could see.

His son was scared, I had to carry him in, had to show him his dad was okay. We went back out to wait for my dad to show up who works about an hour away from that hospital. Later we found out it wasn't until after I saw my brother & called my dad, that he knew my brother was alive. Then again, no one knew until they got there.

I got the story from his fiance B, about what happened. He was following his boss, in his bosses truck, his boss in the dump truck. He was driving on Main St, and turned his head for a second and when he turned back a truck was parked across the street, he couldn't avoid it, he braced himself by throwing his left arm to protect his head. He crashed into the other truck and flipped the truck he was in. His arm was thrown through the driver's side window. After the truck landed on the driver's side, he said a group of around 30 guys came out and helped to pull him out of the truck.

The Sheriff and others at the hospital kept telling him how luck he was, his instinct to protect his head, is what saved his life. His arm has a deep cut from his elbow to his hand, nothing broken in that stretch. The bones in two fingers of his hands were completely crushed, and the rest of the bones are fractured. He was taken into surgery and lost part of his middle finger. My mom said his arm looks like hamburger. They put pins in his hand.  They don't know when his hand will heal. They don't know what to expect.

The thought that my brother could have, and most likely would have, had he not tried to protect himself, died, has shaken everyone pretty badly. He is my only biological brother. I have two adopted but they came much later in my life, not that either of those last two things matter, whether biological or not, it's an awful thought. My brother is my best friend. He's my encyclopedia, if I have a question I ask him. We do everything we can for each other. We have some pretty great memories together and I am so thankful that someone was watching over him. Thankful that we get to make many more memories together.
