I'm not sure what makes my in-laws do the things they do. I am however very tired of the way they question every decision I make. For example, the fact that I didn't want any visitors while I was in labor with Miss A, my mom and baby sister took me to the hospital and waited till my husband showed up then left to pick up around my house & love my dog. My younger sister stopped by with food for the husband that night, weren't there for more than 5 minutes total. Or that I didn't want kids or very many visitors in the hospital after I had her. I didn't need a crowded room while I was relaxing and enjoying my first hours as a mom. (If you like to do that, that's fine I'm not judging, its just not what I wanted to have happen.) Every time they threw a fit. Complaining, saying it was weird. Like when they got mad because I was tired of people showing up whenever with whoever they wanted after I got home and said something about it. My house, my baby, my rules. The newest thing is the fact that I'm having my girls share a room. I just finished putting the toddler bed back into the nursery & setting up the new crib. They fit perfect in that room together. I grew up always sharing a room, I loved it. Once I was older I got my own room, just when I started feeling like I needed my own space. And again, my house, my girls, my rules. Every one parents different. My husband and I have agreed on a certain way that makes us all comfortable and happy. It's worked for us for over 2 years now. My sisters and their boyfriends choose to parent different than us, as do my brother, his fiance and his son's mom. They do what works for them. I might not agree with their styles, but they know their kids and I'm gonna keep my mouth shut, it's not my place. Having our new addition joining us so soon really has me on edge. I'm not ready for any drama with my in-laws. They're just going to need to accept that I do things different than them. I don't want an audience at the birth of Miss M, Miss A will be with my family, we'll only have a few visitors at the actual hospital and then people can schedule a time to visit at home after. It's really that simple. I don't know what to do. I'm starting to stress out about what they're going to do. I don't need my brother in law telling me that I need medication, because I like things a certain way. (Still can't believe he said that, I should have strangled him.)
Only 3? I could write quite the list easily. My dad is amazing. Here are just 3 reasons why.
2. His ability to stay calm in any situation. I really don't think I've ever seen my dad lose it. He's always very calm and helps you feel calm and at ease with everything. I was nervous walking down the aisle at my wedding, he was avoiding crying so he talked to me the entire walk, just about random things. Just enough to make me feel comfortable and to calm our nerves.
3. The way he presents himself. He's out working in my yard right now, and if I knew he'd let me snap a pic I would, but he is always in clean clothes, and his face freshly shaved no matter what he is doing. I know it's not all about how you look, but the way you look definitely changes the way people treat you and the way you feel about yourself.
I'm gonna sneak in a fourth!
4. His love of being a grandpa. Seriously this guy is an amazing grandpa. A can't get enough of him when she sees him. He'll just hold her and take her wherever he goes. Love it.
What are a few of the things you love about your dad?
I woke up May 28 with an amazing idea. Let's go to the zoo this Saturday. I texted the hubs and we decided it was a date. It would be June 1st. Less than 6 weeks before Miss M would be here for sure. 3 weeks before full term, things were getting close & we needed to be spending lots of quality time as just a family of 3 before our lives changed.
I only ended up bringing my cellphone because I thought my SIL would have her camera but my brother had taken it to DC with him. Turd. But I did get some pictures to help us remember our Zoo day. None of which include me. A LOVED it! We brought my mom, SIL, nephew and my Sis who is in these pictures 37 weeks pregnant.
I couldn't get a good picture of A at all, she was more curious about everything around her. Usually I can get her to smile for me, but at the zoo? No way. We saw the grizzly bears at one point and they were playing in the water, fighting and such and she absolutely did not approve and kept yelling "YOU STOP!" just like she does to Nana's dogs when they are play fighting.
Our Zoo is under construction again. (We got a new Polar Bear exhibit last year, and this coming Spring we will have a new African Savannah exhibit, so we will definitely go back again!) So our trip there was only a couple hours long and we didn't get to see too many animals, but it was more than worth it. The Mr. took A into the gift shop & told her to go for it. Well she found the $40 polar bear & decided he was perfect. After a quick ride in her stroller for the Polar Bear, we headed back home, to sit back and relax while Miss M decided to roll around in my belly. I think it means she liked the zoo too and can't wait to go next year. :)
10 Beauty tools/products you can't live without. 1. Moisturizer. Helps start the look, even if that look is the "crazy tired mom" look. 2. Round brush. Love volume in my hair. 3. Foundation. Let's cover up the problems. 4. Mascara. Even if it's a no make up day, mascara is needed. 5. Some sort of hot tool (straightener, curling iron, wand) 6. Tweezers. Gotta always have 2 eyebrows. 7. Nail polish. Toes have to look cute. 8. A good strong hairspray. Don't need to waste my time styling my hair to have it fall flat! 9. Comb. Sometimes all it takes is a little teasing to get pretty hair. 10. A good face mask.
Phew! I'm on a roll today (May 25), getting all these pregnancy post updates up! Was worried I didn't have any pictures after the 25 week mark, thank goodness I had a few!
Oh 28 weeks, I can't believe my belly looks like that. Heck my body. That was taken in Vegas, the day we left, meaning that should say 28.1. I was hot and swollen from being out ALL day the day before. Yup, that's my excuse for that! Around week 26 I started having contractions, actual painful ones and of course the lovely Braxton Hicks. So these past now 8 weeks have been quite full of fun! Just at the beginning of Week 30, I was able to catch a picture of the weird shapes my belly likes to make. Always pushing limbs back in, absolutely love it! I feel like each week after 28 she's moved lower and lower. At week 27 I passed my glucose test. At week 30, I got to see Little Miss M again, head down and ready to go. A has started to enjoy laying on my belly when we lay down to relax. Also, if she catches her dad rubbing or talking to my belly his hand gets smacked and she'll lay on top of the belly. It's her sister. He keeps forgetting. These weeks have been great! I've been cleaning like crazy, doing my deep cleaning, spring cleaning & nesting all at the same time! This momma has been productive! At my 32 week appt I learned that contractions are fine now, as long as there isn't more than 5 in an hour. I didn't know this. Seeing as A had me in bed rest from 30 weeks. I really wonder if being able to let my body have contractions and such will help my body prepare and bring Miss M here sooner than my due date. My body really started hurting this 6 weeks or so, hip pain (darn bad hips, can't wait to get new ones!) Oh and my back. I can really tell if the day has been productive by how difficult it is to get up after sitting down. It's worth every minute. Oh & lately I've had some heart burn. Gah! I don't know how people deal with it, it's barely there but woah, I could do without. And there ya have it! Just about completely caught up!!
