Monday Listicles

I wasn't exactly sure what to write for this post, then I went to Sunday dinner at my Grandparent's house and it all magically came to me.

Things That Make Me Go Hmm
....Sunday Dinner....

1. My Uncle's ability to say something so stupid and inconsiderate, that I want to stab him with the nearest fork, and yet no one says anything to him. This time it was about the car accident my brother was in.

2. My grandparent's need to put as much salt as possible on everything. I mean somethings are crunchy from how much salt is on the top.

3. The way dinner makes your stomach bubble and roll, as soon as you get on the freeway to head home. Their cooking is not for those with sensitive stomachs, our Sunday dinner group has narrowed down quite a bit due to sensitivity.

4. My cousin's way of making conversations so awkward that you find any excuse to leave the room.  He'll say something you don't need to reply to, then stare with his mouth open at you, almost like the words are right there waiting to come out, but they never do, they're just waiting for you to say something.

5. My cousin's ability to say "Hi Sara, how are you?", 3 different times to me within 20 minutes,  in 3 different rooms, and want a full response and the question asked to him. Acting like he's never asked me it, it's like, uhh hello? Do you not know we just talked?

6. My cousin changing her 4 year old's diaper, wait it gets better.... in the living room! Uhh, really?

7. My cousin not potty training her 2 year old even though he wants to be because her 4 year old doesn't want to be.  Uhh, if A is 4 and wearing a diaper and nothing has happened to cause this, (I do know some things cause this process to be drawn out) someone come find me and smack me!

8. My dad telling my nephew that seagulls eat people. Now this one will need a little story, C likes to ask 100 million questions to only a select few people, my dad, his dad, & me. While out working in the yard with my dad, and on question 1 million, he asked about the seagulls flying over and what they do. That's when my dad told him they eat people. Which C responded, "Do you think they saw us?!" , of course my dad got this straightened out, but really gotta wonder there.

9. My grandparent's having a 8 year old. Okay, so he's my older brother's boy, and my brother, his wife & daughter live in one of the basement apartments, but my nephew lives upstairs with my grandparent's, they don't have to do anything for him but it's still strange.

10. My aunt's ability to have her pants hiked up so high, and being a different pattern from her top, that even I am uncomfortable for her, and it doesn't bother her. Uhh if my pants for whatever awful reason got that high, I would definitely definitely buy a new pair of pants or stick to skirts & dresses. NO ONE should have their pants up that high, there are certain things we don't want to see.

Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

How did you come up with your blog name?
Mommy Summers, I'm a mommy to Miss A & our last name is Summers, pretty simple!

What is your favorite thing about blogging?
The friendships & support. I've "met" so many great people, and love sharing & learning with them!

What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without?
Twitter. Really? I know right? I didn't really care for it, but now that's how I keep up with everyone's blogs.

Facebook or Twitter? and why?
Twitter, like I said above, it's how I keep up with everyone. Facebook seems to hold family and friends that I know IRL, and I use it to check in on them once in a while but not much.Maybe I'll start a Facebook for my blog someday?

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?
Julia Roberts, I love her. Love every show she has been in.

What is something you want people to know about your blog?
It's my journal. Sometimes I just post stuff to remember it. I have big hopes for it though, I've been talking to hubs about all my dreams for my blog and he said go for it! Looking forward to some changes!

15 Months.

Dear A,
You are 15 months! Let's see what you've done this past month & how big you are!

(Taken the day after you turned 14 months.)
Measurements from your 15 month WCC:

Weight: 23 lbs 52%
Height: 31.5 " 80%
Head Cir: 18.25" 63%

(First Time swinging)
You are still nursing, well you were until yesterday, (post on that coming soon).

You started walking about 3 months ago, so you are now running.
(So happy in the mornings)
You finally say Mom, its amazing. I love it, though you do tend to say it with a whiny voice.

You are such a sweet heart, you love your cousin C so much. Everything is better when C is around.

You are finally back to sleeping through the night, and for you that means at least 6 hours before you wake.

You do yard work without putting up a fight, you love it, unlike me.

You have babies that you love so much, dad & I have to take turns loving them.

Grandma gave you C's guitar, you love it, it stays in the car so you can play with it when we drive around.

Stop growing up so fast.

Love you baby girl!

It's Okay

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Okay...

  • That because 2/5 of the kids in my family have ended up in the hospital in the last 3 days, I'm worried about our "3rd bad thing ", doesn't it go something like "Bad things come in 3's?".
  • That I might drink hub's cup of coffee this morning because mine probably won't be enough
  • That I'm dreading taking A to the doctors later for her 15 month well check because I don't think she's well.
  • That I stopped working out a couple months ago, and don't really feel like getting back into it anytime soon.
  • That it's taken me a very long time to type this post up, because I'm pretty sure my brain keeps shutting off.

That Call.

Monday started off like just any normal day, A & I got ready and headed over to my parent's house. We were there an hour, just about to plan what we were doing for lunch. I was sitting in a chair by the kitchen, where my mom was. Her phone rang, it was my brother's ring tone, as my mom stepped closer, I could immediately tell it wasn't my brother, something was wrong. My heart dropped.

It was a Sheriff. My brother had been in an accident and rolled/totaled the truck he was driving and was being taken to the emergency room about 35 minutes away. Nothing other than that. My brother has a 4 year old, he was in the room, and saw how my mom & my brother's fiance reacted, very unstable. I took him and A up to the hospital in a separate car.

He thought we were going to see his dad at work, I had to tell him that we were going to the hospital to see his dad because he had been in an accident. I had to explain that his dad might look different, ( no one knew what to expect, I didn't want him to see his dad and freak out, he needed to be prepared). We walked through the ER doors, and were taken back to see him, his face looked great, one arm completely covered in dried blood, the other wrapped in just tons of gauze. He had a few cuts on his shoulder but nothing too bad from what we could see.

His son was scared, I had to carry him in, had to show him his dad was okay. We went back out to wait for my dad to show up who works about an hour away from that hospital. Later we found out it wasn't until after I saw my brother & called my dad, that he knew my brother was alive. Then again, no one knew until they got there.

I got the story from his fiance B, about what happened. He was following his boss, in his bosses truck, his boss in the dump truck. He was driving on Main St, and turned his head for a second and when he turned back a truck was parked across the street, he couldn't avoid it, he braced himself by throwing his left arm to protect his head. He crashed into the other truck and flipped the truck he was in. His arm was thrown through the driver's side window. After the truck landed on the driver's side, he said a group of around 30 guys came out and helped to pull him out of the truck.

The Sheriff and others at the hospital kept telling him how luck he was, his instinct to protect his head, is what saved his life. His arm has a deep cut from his elbow to his hand, nothing broken in that stretch. The bones in two fingers of his hands were completely crushed, and the rest of the bones are fractured. He was taken into surgery and lost part of his middle finger. My mom said his arm looks like hamburger. They put pins in his hand.  They don't know when his hand will heal. They don't know what to expect.

The thought that my brother could have, and most likely would have, had he not tried to protect himself, died, has shaken everyone pretty badly. He is my only biological brother. I have two adopted but they came much later in my life, not that either of those last two things matter, whether biological or not, it's an awful thought. My brother is my best friend. He's my encyclopedia, if I have a question I ask him. We do everything we can for each other. We have some pretty great memories together and I am so thankful that someone was watching over him. Thankful that we get to make many more memories together.
